so basically. i wanted to find a way to update my friends and family about my trip/journey/life in hawaii. and this seemed to fit that need all too perfectly. (:
i'll be leaving for hawaii at the crack of dawn on thursday morning, literally. and i'll be gone for approximately 6 1/2 weeks--until my return on august 17th! don't miss me too much..
anyway, God has blessed me tremendously with this trip. i've been dreaming about it for about four years now. and it's finally come true! back then, i didn't even know if it was possible to do this. but here i am, making it happen. i don't know how i got here, or why this is all coming into place, but i do know that it is going to be a summer i will never forget.
i'll be staying at UH Manoa, the main campus on Oahu. I'll be dorming with my beautiful cousin Becca, and i don't doubt for a second that she will make the most amazing roommate! and by the looks of the pictures i found on the internet, our dorm room is ENORMOUS! [and i thought santa cruz dorms were large!] i can't wait. i only wish i could bring more stuff on the plane to actually fill the room with stuff...haha.
during my stay at UHM i will be studying communication [one of my majors at UCSB]. i'll even be taking one of my classes with my cousin! lucky me. i'm very interested in experiencing a college course at a school that's not a research university. i'm sure things will be taught verrryy differently there! i hope it like it.
as some of you may know, i had a hard decision to make back in the winter of whether or not to journey to hawaii to be on mission with campus crusade for christ's epic, or to simply attend school. although i felt that school was the best decision for me, i have been blessed with being able to help out and participate alongside fellow "epic-ers" as the summer project will actually be held at the same campus and during the same period of time! this just goes to show how gracious God truly is. [along with all the millions of other ways he demonstrates his grace and glory. haha]
aside from school and helping out the summer project, i will be spending lots of quality time at the beach. [what did you expect??] haha. i'm looking forward to warm, CLEAR waters, long days, and amazing sunsets. ahhh, the life. ♥
at the moment, i'm feeling less excited about the trip than i anticipated? especially since i'm only about a day away from departure! but that's okay. i will have plenty of time to get enthused about my trip on the way there. although i am not quite sure how i am feeling, i do know that God has a plan for me and this summer. i'm looking forward to unfolding it & trusting in Him fully. in fact, i'm currently learning about my identity in Him. mm, so sweet! with that said, i will leave a last verse that i've been meditating on today: "For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's." --Romans 14:8.
